説實話，美國人并沒有很把奧運會看的極端重要；輸了一局就要天塌下來。中國則是靠奧運，奧賽這種才能找到自信，是中國唯一能“超過”美國等發達國家的機會，所以才如此狂躁。或者說在中國，名字上有“國際”的比“國内”的活動/組織/比賽更重要和珍貴；美國則是反過來更注重national的東西。大部分第三世界的權貴，如果子女高中不去美國，基本都會放到本國的"**** international school"；美國的權貴則不會這樣。或者説在美國人的認知裏，自己天生就是大於全世界的，就是不一樣的(American exceptionalism) ，所以不會特別關注國際賽事來證明自己。

説實話，這種場合把美國和中國比較是根本沒有意義的。
