Live USB (and/or Persistence) & FOSS

@天神九頭鳥 能进 BIOS 就用 Live 系统（ https://www.privacytools.io/operating-systems/#live_os ）。我有时外出不便，借他人的机器或者去网吧，就用 Live USB，然后把重要数据存到自己的移动硬盘上。

事实上，我的主系统（Arch Linux）就是装在移动硬盘上的。

KNOPPIX（ https://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html ）、TinyCore（ https://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/ ）这类系统还可以 frugal install，在 RAM 里运行。KNOPPIX 预装的编程类、教育类软件丰富，即插即用。TinyCore 则非常精简。

Tails、Kali、RaspberryPi Desktop 可以设置 persistence storage。

Arch 其实也可以直接安装在 USB 里，就是装 grub 的时候略麻烦，需要 https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installing_Arch_Linux_on_a_USB_key & https://askubuntu.com/a/841781 Nuke the gap between the boot sector and the first partition，否则 embedding 问题会报错。另外，USB 是消耗品，使用寿命短，注意定期把数据转存到 HDD/SSD 上（either portable or not will be ok，此处如果要求更高的安全性而不是速度的话，建议用 HDD，理由参见 https://mdrights.github.io/os-observe/posts/2017/06/關於徹底刪除這件事.html ）。

我现在正在用 Tor Browser 登录 2049bbs 的这台笔记本电脑，是淘来的 Thinkpad X61（换了 X60 的主板，为了刷 Libreboot。 https://libreboot.org/docs/hardware/ 目前只有这些主板是能完全 reverse engineering 掉 Intel CPU 的 binary blobs），操作系统装的是 Parabola（ https://parabola.nu/ ）。

另外，能用非 X 环境就尽量不用 X 环境 。。

PS：为什么桌面系统装 Linux 可以做到更好的安全性（相比 Windows & macOS 而言）
