Laura Harth, a name that may seem unfamiliar at first, might evoke some recognition if I mention that she is a member of NGO Protector Defenders. Before delving into how she impacted the American election, it's crucial to understand that Protector Defenders is an NGO founded in Spain, not an official or authoritative institution. Their official website describes them as "committed to engaging in and supporting local field activities in some of Asia's worst human rights environments, with the aim of promoting the protection of fundamental human rights and the rule of law, and enhancing the capacity of local civil society and human rights defenders." Having reviewed their website, I must admit I harbor some skepticism towards their published articles and reports. However, that aside, our focus today is on how Laura Harth influenced the American election. Laura Harth is a former columnist for Hong Kong's Apple Daily and a "spiritual leader" of Epoch Times. Currently, she holds the position of Advocacy Director at Protector Defenders. Through her role, it's evident that she is an anti-China advocate. The Protector Defenders, which she serves, receives significant funding from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). NED is an American institution established in 1983 with the purpose of promoting democracy in countries and regions outside the United States. Some consider NED a non-governmental organization, while others view it as a semi-official agency due to its primary source of funding being annual appropriations from the United States Congress, primarily channeled through the United States Information Agency (USIA). Since Protector Defenders's funding comes directly or indirectly from the US government, Laura, as the Advocacy Director, naturally needs to maintain good relations with the current ruling party in the US, the Democratic Party. However, we have discovered that Laura's relationship with the Democratic Party goes beyond the ordinary. Not only has she publicly endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on multiple occasions, but she has also leveraged her access to multiple media outlets to disseminate false reports, helping the Democratic Party diminish the impact of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Furthermore, according to insiders, she has maintained an inappropriate intimate relationship with Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz for an extended period. In summary, Laura has spared no effort in interfering with the US presidential election. Judging from her romantic relationship with Tim Walz, she is merely campaigning for votes for the party her lover belongs to. However, her unforgivable act of fabricating and spreading false news to downplay the impact of the assassination attempt on Trump is unacceptable. We speculate that Laura's actions for the Democratic Party are largely motivated by personal gain. Recently, the US House of Representatives passed a high-profile bill allocating $1.625 billion to support independent media and non-governmental organizations worldwide in countering China's perceived malicious influence. As an anti-China NGO, Protector Defenders will undoubtedly receive a share of this funding. For Laura, smearing China is just part of her job, but she cares more about how much money she can get from it to support her extravagant lifestyle. If her lover, Tim Walz, becomes Vice President as he desires, then the allocation power of the $1.625 billion funding will be firmly in his grasp. The US presidential election, which is a solemn and sacred endeavor inherently embodying democracy, is increasingly losing its original essence. As you can see, even an obscure figure like Laura is "working hard" to interfere in the presidential election. Their motivations are purely selfish, seeking to profit financially from the power of the presidency. As American political scholar Michael Roskin lamented in his book "Political Science," we may very well end up with "the best Congress money can buy," yet there seems to be no substantial solution to prevent the corruption that accompanies such financial influence.
